Our Story
Shilstone is a country estate in the heart of Devon. We began just after the house was completed to host weddings. As of 2023 we opened our gates for the first time to everyone to share what we have created. We aim to provide a wonderful destination for people to visit, with the best locally sourced food, and a relaxed but stunning environment which the family Is happy to share.

Our Philosophy
Shilstone is family run, and the team who work at Shilstone have been working on the project right from its conception. The work has been sympathetically carried out, using traditional methods and local materials. No outside building contractors nor quantity surveyors were employed during the restoration and throughout to the present day. The work was carried out by our small but dedicated local team of craftsmen who put their life and soul into the project, very often learning the required levels of skills as they went along.

“Shilstone is a result of our passion for architecture, restoration, conservation and nature. Over the last 25 years, our incredibly loyal team have dedicated themselves to rebuilding and restoring Shilstone and recreating a legacy. After the completion, we began on our journey to share Shilstone with everyone. We began just over 10 years ago hosting weddings and events, more recently we then decided to open the Shilstone gates to all for the first time with the opening of our gardens, cafe, archive and restaurant. We still have a long way to go and lots of exciting ideas that have yet to have been carried out but it is a very existing time ahead. We are looking for pationaite, dedicated and loyal individuals to join us on our journey and create the best possible experience for our guests, if Shilstone excited you as it does us, we would love to here from you!”
