Garden Weekend 2024

Formal Garden - Shilstone House

Garden Weekend 2024

This May bank Holiday to celebrate garden week, we will be hosting our first Garden Weekend at Shilstone. We have a host of different activities throughout the weekend as well as our Gardens and Walks being open and in full spring bloom.

Wander through the teraced garden, take a moment to enjoy the picturesque views of the rolling fields, meander through the valley with the ponds and rills, or take part in our Wildflower Hunt. This will take you through our Gardens and into the bluebell woods, discovering the amazing wildflowers here at Shilstone, in particular, the swaths of Bluebells currently in full bloom in the woods. Following the hunt visit the café for a wildflower surprise.

Our Chefs will be firing up the wood-fired BBQs for a delicious seasonal lunch cooked on wood from the estate. The Cafe Courtyard will be transformed with new handmade planters with seating made in the Shilstone carpentry shop, planted with flowers, herbs and trees to provide natural booths. Alternatively, if the sun is shining you can pitch up in the gardens or woods and take in the views.

If you would like to know more about the gardens and house, Lucy the owner of Shilstone will be hosting a House and Garden Tour over the weekend. She will guide you through the House including some of the private rooms, and will explain our restoration story and its history as well as show you the garden that she has designed and planted.

In celebration of Garden Weekend the Walled Garden welcomes back our Sunday Lunch in our Mughal Marquee for the Summer ahead. Enjoy our traditional Sunday Lunch, with surrounded by the Gardens and rolling fields in the valley below. Begin your afternoon with a cocktail in the Garden before wandering into the marquee for a delicious selection of roast meats, spring vegetables, a vegetarian option, and desserts.
