A truly unique feature of Shilstone, which we believe you will be hard pressed to find in any other Devon Wedding Venue, is our long serving, dedicated and personal team.

We are unbelievably lucky to offer an exclusive wedding venue situated in the heart of Devon, full of unparalleled features, exquisite architecture and breath taking scenery, however, without our committed team, we would not be able to share the beauty of Shilstone with others and deliver our exclusive events with exemplary service.

So, who makes up the fabulous team at Shilstone I hear you ask!

The Fenwick Family

Firstly, we have the Fenwick family. Shilstone was discovered by Mr and Mrs Fenwick in 1997 who embarked on a restoration project, transforming Shilstone from a deteriorating farmstead into an award-winning Georgian Manor House and Estate. Without their vision and perseverance, Shilstone as we know it would have not come to being, and we would not be in the fortunate position of offering bespoke, exclusive weddings in the Devonshire countryside.

Mr and Mrs Fenwick are hugely supportive of the wedding team at Shilstone, from offering guidance during the booking process, assisting with guest arrival on wedding days and using keen green fingers to ensure the formal gardens look impeccable. Their son, Ned, also has a role! As a budding photographer with superb drone flying skills, Ned is invaluable in capturing Shilstone throughout the seasons and from every possible angle.

Jo, Shilstone House Manager

Jo has worked for Shilstone Weddings since conception in 2012, therefore, has amassed over 7 years of experience in her role. Having worked for the Fenwick family for the previous 20 years, Jo transferred her decades of organisational and hospitality skills to the weddings.

Growing with the wedding business, Jo is responsible for overseeing the wedding day itself and is unbelievably efficient in ensuring every element of the day is delivered as planned. Managing your final pre-wedding appointment, Jo compiles detailed notes of your Shilstone wedding day journey and produces an Order of the Day for all the team to follow.

Jo loves logistics and thrives on the multi-tasking the wedding industry demands. Totally measured under pressure, Jo’s ability to decision make and adapt during an unfolding wedding day is the result of her years in hospitality. 

Rather camera shy, Jo’s profile picture epitomises her role. Continually in the background, however, working tirelessly to provide the ultimate wedding day experience. In this instance, sheltering a Bridesmaid from the wet weather!

Hollie, Wedding Coordinator


Similarly, to Jo, Hollie too has grown with Shilstone’s wedding business. First joining Shilstone in 2013 as a member of the in-house Hospitality Team, Hollie has learnt the Shilstone wedding experience through active participation. In 2015, Hollie adopted a full-time office position and is now the exclusive point of contact for booked couples. Responsible for all communications, Hollie’s role, in summary, is to build your wedding day in “blueprint”, which is then shared with Jo and the wider team in order to deliver the wedding day itself. Needless to say, Hollie and Jo work very closely together to ensure you have the perfect wedding day at Shilstone!

From managing questions, however simple or elaborate, to looking after payment schedules, confirming your food and drink plans, finalising your accommodation requirements, ensuring you have submitted a table plan and contacting your suppliers ahead of the big day, Hollie’s self-professed obsession with being organised lends itself perfectly to her role at Shilstone, ensuring our couples are cared for professionally and efficiently throughout.

Lucy, Enquiries and Sales

As a prospective client, Lucy will be your first point of contact. Following enquiry, Lucy will ensure you receive all the information you need about Shilstone by sharing our electronic Brochure and Cost Guide.

Lucy’s passion for weddings began in 2007 when she entered the industry working for a premium catering company, from which she learned the importance of delicious food and quality service. When you decide to visit Shilstone, this enthusiasm will be evident as Lucy conducts your showround appointment, introducing you to the venue and everything we have to offer.

Also working in the office alongside Jo and Hollie, Lucy is fully aware of the Shilstone planning and wedding day experience, therefore, guarantees a comprehensive presentation of weddings at Shilstone. (Lucy has also been helping with our Consultation Days and as captured below, has become quite the wine connoisseur)!

The Kitchen Team

After our first season in 2012, Mr Fenwick transformed Shilstone’s catering approach by organising an in-house Kitchen Team. Just like Jo and Hollie, our now Head Chef, Liz began her journey with the wedding team from the very early stages. Working alongside the external caterers in Shilstone’s first ever season, Liz then utilised her experience and passion to confidently adopt the role as Head Chef and has led our kitchen efforts since 2013.

Seasons on, Liz, with the help of our Kitchen Team loves creating delicious food for all our couples and their guests! Our menu offerings are inspired by Liz, however, with her endless talent, we are also able to accommodate bespoke requests and menus.

Hospitality Team

Continually commended for their approachability and professionalism, our team of waiters, waitresses and bar staff are fundamental to the Shilstone experience. Ensuring our couple and their guests are thoroughly looked after, maintaining efficiency and delivering service with a smile, the Hospitality Team are a real credit to Shilstone.


Every single member of staff we encountered seemed genuinely invested in making it the best day ever for us. The wedding events team are an absolute credit to themselves, efficient, great communicators and really helped us feel more at ease…clearly very experienced at what they do. Ground and Maintenance Staff

The grounds at Shilstone are quite simply breath-taking; another vision brought to life by Mr and Mrs Fenwick. From the rolling valley, to the steep terracing and borders full of Catmint, Peonies and Iris, Mrs Fenwick and our team of Gardeners work diligently to provide an incomparable backdrop of multicoloured magnificence, which matures and improves season upon season.

With over 300 acres to look after on the Shilstone Estate, our Team of Ground Staff are always hard at work! Team Member, Richard is photographed here using our Ventrac to maintain the lawns on the Terracing.

At Shilstone, we offer a completely personal service, delivered by a committed and experienced team.

Dear Mr Fenwick,

I would like to place on record the appreciation and gratitude of myself and my wife, Sue, for Shilstone’s faultless organisation of our son, Tim’s wedding last Saturday, June 8th. From the beginning of the preparations, after we met you last year to the end of the evening celebrations last Saturday, the guidance of your staff has been so helpful and the standard of service delivered by all your staff nothing less than exemplary. 

I must confess that my wife and I were initially somewhat apprehensive about the logistical challenge of a wedding so far from our home in the New Forest, but we could not have wished for a more efficiently managed day. The attention to detail of you and your staff speaks highly of your experience in the business of hosting weddings and you have good reason to be very proud of them all. Please convey our thanks to everyone involved.
