If, for example, you are getting married with us on a Saturday and there is no Friday event, the Friday becomes your Decoration Day. The Shilstone Wedding Coordination Team will inform you of an arrival time and your allocated time slot to decorate. This Decoration Day allows the couple and select helpers to spend time decorating the venue together!

Yes! We are fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies. Ceremonies at Shilstone can take place in the rustic Ceremony Barn, or on the steps in front of the house.

As Shilstone has grown as a venue, access for wheelchair users has greatly improved. Across the whole site, we have ramps and ground floor toilet facilities, including in our Mughal Marquee.

Of course, we simply ask that either fresh or dried petals are used and must be thrown only in outdoor spaces.

Our rustic Ceremony Barn can seat up to 135 guests with some additional standing space. We can also use our Terrace Room, connected to the rustic Ceremony Barn to accommodate even more guests!

We can accommodate up to 220 daytime wedding guests, with capacity for additional guests in the evening.

Our team of staff will set up the tables, chairs, table linen and cutlery. We would ask that centrepieces, table names / numbers, guest place names and additional décor items are put in place by members of the wedding party. We will clear up all of the tables after the wedding and put aside any decorations ready for collection.

We have a specialist sound system provided by www.directacousticsolutions.com which ensures that music is concentrated onto the dancefloor, but elsewhere in the Marquee you can converse at a normal level.

This also means that the sound won’t escape and affect our neighbours. For more information please contact us directly.

In our peak season (March – October) we have a preferred minimum of 75 day guests for a Friday and 95 day guests on a Saturday. We can host smaller, more intimate weddings on weekdays and off-peak dates.

Only the couple can request and complete the booking of the ceremony directly with Devon Registration Services. Our preferred ceremony start time is 2pm.

All catering at Shilstone is provided by our talented in house chefs. Our menus are flexible and we can adapt them to suit your unique tastes and requirements.

We ask that all drinks are provided by Shilstone. We offer a generous drinks package which is excellent value for money.

We also have a fully stocked bar for guests to buy drinks in the evening. We accept both cash and card payments at our bar.

Because of our beautiful rural location and close proximity to local livestock, we can’t allow fireworks or Chinese lanterns at Shilstone.
